Well, the weather goddess was in a grumpy mood in Lincoln City the week before the Gates of Thyme Renaissance Faire opened. Heavy winds on Thursday blew down most of what had been built as the background for the faire. However, entreaties to her seemed to work, as the weekend dawned bright and clear, with only gentle winds. First year faires are always tough. No one knows what to expect, for everything is brand new for everyone. Corbin and her crew did an admirable job in pulling together all the disparate elements that go into puting on an event of this magnitude. St. Wolfgang's presented the Marriage of the Century, Lord Rowe was recognized with a knighthood, and the 16th Centure Olympic Games were enjoyed by Guild and audience alike. Saturday evening's Feast of St. Margarets was a wonderous spread of food for all who attended this catered event. If you missed it, there's always next year. The last fair of the year is always slightly sad, for there are no more events to look forward to until next year. To all of you who we met this season, thanks for a great year of Faire-Play. We look forward to the 2001 season which will be here before we know it. Until then, Huzzah and thanks for a great season.
